In Science class, we are in the midst of a unit on the Earth! After reviewing continents and oceans, we began learning about rocks and soil. I figured there was no better way to explore rocks than to go on a ROCK HUNT!! Each of the kids received a baggie and we went exploring around the school, on the road, and on the shelter grounds. You wouldn't believe how fascinated my kids were!!! You'd think they'd never seen a rock in their life! Not even two seconds would go by without a "Teacher Meeechelle!!! Look at this one!" Melrod was especially amazed and was running around as if he was picking up pieces of gold! He loved finding huge rocks too, but I had to remind him that they wouldn't fit in his baggie...
I ooohed and aaahed at every rock, and sometimes had to give the discouraging news that it was just a bunch of dirt packed together, not really a rock. :( We had a blast, and they loved picking their favorite ones to go in their baggies. Sometimes children are the best people to remind you how unique and wondrous God's creation is!!
